Shifter + Handbrake for Sim-Racing

I designed, developed, and built this game controller for use in high realism computer simulated auto racing. It is a first-of-its-kind combination shifter and hand-brake unit.

The lever on the left side of the unit is a simulated transmission gear shifter with a realistic detented mechanical feel of a racing transmission. The taller lever on the right side is a simulated hand-brake lever with a realistic feel of engaging hydraulic rear brakes used in certain types of racing cars - usually off-road rally racing and drifting. The unit is able to be assembled in either left or right hand orientations so it can be configured for mounting on either side of the driver. A microcontroller programmed in C++ provides control interface to the PC by USB.
